Passport Questions

Hello all,

Im currently in Hanoi and have decided to do a last minute trip to Laos for TET. But, my passport is near full and expires on August 24th 2012. So I was wondering how many pages are required for the visa and if the expiry would be ok to get into the country.

Thanks!

One full page is required for the visa. 6 months validity is needed, so you will need a new passport.

Hi conovela

If you are getting your Laos visa in Hanoi, it would be great to know how easy / how long it takes. I'm travelling from the UK to Hanoi in March, and then heading overland to Laos (Luang Prabang). I may not be able to get my visa for Laos in advance (no embassy in the UK). I was going to get it at the Vietnam-Laos border but a few Thorntree and other posts make me think it would be better to have the visa beforehand. Hanoi is the obvious answer.

Thanks

Visas are easily obtained at the borders into Laos. No hassle. Have a couple photos (or be prepared to pay for them) and cash, and don't get peeved at the extra $1-2 to help with the border-worker's Beer Lao fund.

You must have 6 months validity on your passport upon your exit date (30 days + six months at time of Lao entry). I don't think a smile and small "facitlitating fee" will change that rule. I wpon't speak for a larger "facilitating fee" .....
