hanoi to ha long bay
Hi,apologies if a similar post has been posted a billion times but just got a few questions regarding ha long bay.
1. is it easy enough to organise a ha long bay tour in hanoi on the day ( i.e. book in the morning and get to halong bay on the same day)
2. Whats the standard tour.. 3d/2n or 2d/1n? whats the going rate for something standard ( not flash 5 star) but something clean and basic like 3 star.
3. how long does it take to travel from halong bay to Hanoi.
4. what time do tours normally leave from Hanoi and what time do they return. I am trying to schedule a ticket to fly out and the flight times depart around 6pm and what to know if i will be back in time for the flight.

Hi there.1. Of course you can if you don't go around halong by cruise. If you want to visit halong by cruise, you have to book before 1 or 2 days and you can from hanoi to halong bay, then visit halong on a day. But i suggest you should 2 days/1 night is normal. You can go around Halong by cruise, visit some island, caves... then over night on cruise, squid fishing....
2. 2 days/ 1 night is classic. Classic sail is 3 star cruise $ 160 -$205 for single (http://halongclassicsail.com/halong-tour+romantic+cruise+2days.htm).
3. there is many way to transfer from hanoi to halong bay. If you rent a car service it's take from 2-3hours ( rate. ie.: http://www.vietnamairporttransfer.com/localtransfer_g5-d59_hanoi-to-halong-bay.html)
4. The times should be from 2 days ( hanoi -halong: 2-3 hours, see halong in the afternoon, over night on cruise, the next day you can visit some cave, or do some action like kayak... comeback hanoi in the after noon, you can fly out )

From Hanoi to Halong bay about 3,5hrs by car or bus, Normal any tours start about 8:30am and arrive 12:15 then get the boat, after 4hrs on the boat and come back hanoi about 8pm.Last week we used privater car from Hanoi to Halong bay with Hanoi Transfer Service company.It's comfortable with nice car ( Toyota Vios ) and friendly driver.
