Train: Shenyang to Harbin on Chinese New Year
Hello everyone,I am planning to fly to visit the Ice Festival in Harbin on the week of Chinese New Year. As tickets to Harbin are too expensive, I am planning to fly to Shenyang and then go to Harbin by train or bus.
How hard will that be to get a ticket for Harbin (either train or bus) in this difficult period? I have seen there are many train between the two cities but will that be fully booked still? Is there any way to book tickets in advance?
Thanks for your help.

There are more than 50 trains from Shenyang to Harbin, I guess it is easier for you to get only 1 or 2 tickets from the wicket. As the online booking web site 12306.cn is hard to sign in......BTY,Harbin Ice and Snow World is wonderful and if you have time,go for the Yabuli ski field to enjoy your day for skiing.

Train travel around Chinese New Year is crazy. Usually you can only book train tickets 5 or 10 days before you travel (depends on the route) and during Chinese New year they shorten that time to 2 days sometimes. I lived in Shenyang for five months and the trains get busy. Pay extra and book with an agent if you can. Alot of people are travelling around this time to get back to their families so the trains are over crowded. Good luck and hope you make it. It's a wonderful experience.
