Changing $ Hanoi

Changing $ Hanoi

My recollection is that USD can be changed at the airport at rates competitive with those in town. True? And advice?

I would say no...I have always found better rates in town....however a thousand dong here or there is not really much to worrry about.

my "welcome" at the airport was a woman giving me a hard time about a very good condition $10 because it wasn't the latest issue. finally she changed it.

That's my recollection too b_c. With the caveat that "competitive" is a relative term. Seems to me that the difference was few hundred VND rather than the thousand Norm suggests. Maybe change enough for the first day, then do the rest in town.
