Is there only one Bus Operator In Laos that goes to Hanoi?
I have read a lot of stories how terrible is to travel between Veintienne and Hanoi. I was thinking, are they talking about the same bus operator? Are there other bus companies to choose from? Im staring to get worried, Is just ONE operator and no more competitors?Please Clarify and pls contact info too

it took me a long time to realize that the "Bus from hell" on the route you describe is because of how long it takes and not the road condition. i would break the journey in Vinh. reportedly not a great city but doable. have not done that route yet. to me going from Savannakhet to Vietnam is worth a first try.2
Have done it from Hanoi to Vientiane and had a ball. We did the scientific thing and booked with the travel agency that was the cheapest plus had the best looking buses in photos. We then ended up in a 22-seater from Vjnh with 11 other tourists and we'd all booked at different places and paid different prices. So moral of the story- its pot luck what you get.I dont think the bit to Vinh that was the problem. That was a piece of cake. The long slog is from there to Vientiane. No advantage breaking the trip in Vinh/
