Burmese/Myanmar Embassy

I'm going to need to head to try to get a Burmese Visa in BKK. Does anyone know how to get to the embassy? Is it possible to take a taxi there or are there any special hours?

Thanks!

taxi is always available, though stay out of one at anything close to rush hour. there is a bts station nearby.

info below from link: Myanmar Embassy

*The Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok is located at 132, Sathorn Nua Rd in Silom. It is very near to Surasak BTS Skytrain station. From Surasak station, go to Exit 3. Walk down onto street level and then turn right when you get to the bottom of the stairs so that you are walking along the pavement underneath the Skytrain station. You will pass the Skytrain's escalator entrance. If you don't, you are walking the wrong way down Sathorn Road!

Continue walking up the busy Sathorn Road for about 200 metres. You will arrive at a forbidding grey looking wall with big spikes on top at the corner of Sathorn Road and Thanon Pan. This is the Myanmar Embassy. Walk a few metres down the side road Thanon Pan and you will find the entrance to the Myanmar Embassy's Visa section. It is a unmarked steel door with no handle.*

Check the time it's open specifically for visas as many embassy's in BKK have limited hours for visa enquiries also be prepared to to leave your application and come back a few days later as is most often the case.

Few weeks ago it was 800 baht for 24 hour visa and 1200 for same day. The same day need to be lodged before 11am and picked up after 3pm. No problems these days, all quite straightforward. Have PP photos and copy of PP details page. You need to get in quite a long line in the morning just to get the form then get back in the same line to lodge the form. Bit of a nusiance. Surasak BTS station is the correct one. Incidentally just up the soi (150 m) from the visa section is a photo and photocopy shop that seems to specialise in all the copies you will need. Quite cheap. Hope this helps.

P.S. Check for public holidays. It is closed on both Thai and Myanmar public holidays. Opening time 09.00.
