Day tour - Hoi An - HueDue to limited time for my trip in Vietnam I don't have any real amount of time to spend in Hue. I've been trying to find or come up with a decent day tour from Hoi An to Hue and maybe a quick stop off at My son (though i've heard mixed reviews on this?) - this could be a private, self guided, group etc, that lets me spend a decent amount of time in Hue to explore it at my leisure during the day. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations? Am i better off just getting a private driver or hiring a motorbike and doing the trip myself? I'm not sure what the roads between Hoi An and Hue are like?? Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated as I'm running out of ideas/options from the searching I have done.

1Hoi An- Hue: 140 km
Duartion: 4 hours (by car)
My Son Sanctuary is NOT on the way to Hue (different direction)
If you have only 1 day, you better choose Hue, not My Son sanctuary.
Read this blog to get general idea about Hue Road if you want to hire a motorbike
If you want hire a private car, contact any travel agents or your hotels in Hoi an or Hue.

4You don't have time you should have a private car to take you from Hoi An to My Son for visiting then go ahead to Hue city. It takes you 3 or 4 hours from Hoi An to My Son and visiting. Then the driver take you to Hue. You arrive in Hue about 5 pm.
If you need any help you can send email to me: email@example.com.
I live in Hue city.

6I agree with No. 6. A day trip to My Son is easy enough. My wife and I actully had a nice day trip there from Hoi An which was booked through our hotel. Bus to My Son and boat trip back with lunch. I think it coast $5.00 but that was four years ago. My Son is not as spectacular as Ankor in Cambodia but is interesting to see anyway. My Son has the disadvantage of being badly bombed in the war. We continued on from Hoi An to have four nights at Lang Co Beach, then three nights in Hue. Re-visit Vietman if you can and give Hue a bit more of your itinerary time to do it justice. Enjoy.

8From Hoi An to Hue it is a two-lane road and not especially busy. The route via Hai Van pass is nice and on a clear day gives good vistas of the coast. As others have stated it is a 3-4 hour journey one way, maybe more if you have the driver stop for photos and/or food. My Son and Ba Na are both relatively close to Hoi An and could be visited during a long day. Also, Marble Mt. is very close to Hoi An.

9We did an Easy Rider tour and had a great time (but went Hue to Hoi An). If you have $45US pp to spare then I think its worth it. Doesnt stop at My Son though but there are loads of stop off points along the way.
