, Cigarettes or little cigar to give to locals you meet an the street as a gift to strikeup a chat. & carry a lighter.

2. Business cards with you name/facebook/e-mail info to handout to locals if you seek to make penpals and stay in touch with those you meet on the road. Easy to hand your info to someone. Awkward to ask them for their info and have to write it down. I have seen travelers handout out cards with interested pics on them to every local they meet.

, Iodine pills and a 32 oz cup with good lid for making your own clean drinking water. Cup is good for making ice tea or ice coffee with hotel room coffee makers and hotel ice machines also. Can stow some rolled up clean clothes in cup to travel light. USe lid to shake up and let sit for an hour before drinking.

, Belt with hidden inside zipper to store bulk of your cash. Not a money belt - - its a real leather belt with hidden storage.

, Thin/foldable mags or similar reading material. For me a really good book is the most essential item for those eveing nights when you're not out drinking beer with the locals or other travelors.

, Shaving soap bar instead of shaving cream. Takes up much less space.

, Cards, frisbee, mini-football are all really great ideas. I use a frisbree as a tray in my hotel rooms to place my loose/pocket items in when I enter the rooms. Cards can also be giviong away - - buy 2 or 3 mini-packs.

, Emergency contract names and numbers (toll free and their time zones.)
