Budget trip planned around Zimbabwe - join us!Hi, given the difficulty in getting off the beaten track and travelling to the National Parks and sites around Zimbabwe via public transport, my brother and I are planning to drive around and we're looking for people to join us. We plan to depart Vic Falls around 22nd August, and complete a route taking in the following places;
- Hwange National Park
- Khami Ruins
- Chipingani Wildlife Orphanage
- Matopos National Park
- Great Zimbabwe
- Mutare and the Eastern Highlands
- House boat ferry back to Vic Falls OR back up to Lusaka, Zambia.
I've costed the trip at $600/person for 6people, which includes all transport, and fuel. Most places are camping and self-catering. I'm currently working on a kitty for food. My brother and I have travelled and driven in Zimbabwe many times in the past, and so we have good extensive knowledge of the country, it's wildlife, history, politics etc (we were both born and bred in Zimbabwe). As the itinerary is passing by many border towns and transport links, there would also be an option for people to hop on and off at different locations if necessary.
If anyone is interested in joining us, please drop me a message! :)

1That's nearly 2000km (not inc. kariba) - if I was in a vehicle I'd budget approx 1000 usd plus another 200 contingency however that is if you own your vehicle. I feel that 3600 is plenty however I'd feel uncomfortable squeezing 6 adults into a vehicle...I hope you are not counting on getting two adults on the jump seats you get in the back of a 4x4?...for 6 weeks? Even for kids that's harsh...

2My friend, thank you for your concerns. Yes, you are right, the journey is about 2,000km on tar road (a little off-roading but nothing we can't handle). We are completing the trip in a minibus, possibly with a trailer, so plenty of room! We are Zimbabwean and have done the trip 3 times in the last 6 years, so fear not, we know what we are doing. Karibu!
