Tbilisi to Mestia flights on Borek Air

Hi all,

I understand this is not the first time someone tried to figure out the way to get on Borek Air flight from Tbilisi to Mestia. I have tried the following so far, to no avail:

I called Borek Air in Canada headquarters, who confimed they operate flights from to Mestia. They gave me couple of email addresses in Georgia with the advice to message those people for pricing and schedules. I did not receive any reply whatsoever.

I tried to google for the flight information and got some generic emails and schedules, but nothing officially looking.

Do you know any credible source of information, email address, phone number, etc. that I can contact and book the flights?

Thank you in advance!

Hey,

Yes, there is flight Tbilisi-Mestia (aircompany - Kenn Borek Air, flight operated by Pegasus Airlines).
All the days except Tuesday and Thursday at 10:00 am. One way trip costs 75 Gel (~45 USD), return - 150 Gel (~90). Unfortunately, you can't book on-line as they don't have reservation system, but you can easily buy ticket in one of the Pegasus Airlines office in Tbilisi. It's really credible information, although there is no some officially looking site, it's Georgia, don't worry ;)
Pegasus contact phone +995 32 400400

Best from Georgia!

You can order tickets over the phone and then collect them in Tbilisi (pegasus office in the marriott on freedom square).

Beware however, these flights are often delayed or cancelled. My family went skiing in mestia last month, there were no flights for a 2 week period because of wind / snow in Svaneti.

Actually we talked with Pegasus offices (and checked twice) in airport and in the center and they're telling that it's not possible to make booking by phone. You have to buy ticket at office.

#4 my wife reserved tickets on the phone, from the UK, in April 2011.
The pegasus operator spoke good English and sent through confirmation numbers by email.
As it turned out all the flights were cancelled, so she got a refund but the booking part worked.
Maybe they'll only do this for overseas bookings.

I just bought airplane tickets from Tbilisi to Mestia today.

You have to go to GASA/Pegasus Airlines/DB's office in Sabutalo.

First I went to Mariott Courtyard at Freedom Square, but they told me that I had to go to Sabutalo.

The address is:
65/67 Vaja-Pshavela Ave,
0160 Tbilisi

On Google maps they spell it Vazha-Pshavela Ave.

It's near the Vazha-Pshavela Metro and the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

I talked to Tamar Aptsiauri and she gave me her card:

Tel: (+995 32) 2 400 040 (509)
Mob: (+995) 577 13 19 33
E-mail: taptsiauri@gasa.ge

You might be able to make reservations over the phone, but you have to go there to pay and get your ticket.

I tried 3 days ago to send an email to the email address taptsiauri@gasa.ge, but it doesn't work (bad destination mailbox address).
So the only way to reserve a ticket for the flight Tbilisi/Mestia is by phone call?
Is there anybody in the same situation? Please, can you give me the right phone number?
Moreover, do you know if the procedure (reservation via phone/collect the tickets and payment directly at Sabutalo office in Tbilisi) is valid yet?
Thank you in advance!!

I was in Svaneti last weekend. This is the current information re: flights via Pegasus as of that time:

You CAN "reserve" a seat by phone
You MUST go in person to ONE specific Pegasus office to buy and pick up your tickets
You cannot do this at the Marriott Courtyard at Freedom Square

Our flight from Mestia to Tbilisi was canceled. I don't know the frequency of this, but the result is an expensive (in time and money) marshrutka to Zugdidi and then another marshrutka to Tbilisi.

If you leave on the public marshrutka from Mestia, the one and only leaves at some time between 5:30 and 6:30 a.m.

If you charter a marshrutka to Zugdidi, you're looking at 150 - 200 lari.

The marsh trip to Zugdidi from Mestia will take between 2.5 to 3 hours. The trip from Zugdidi to Tbilisi will take five hours.

On the bright side, the Pegasus office at the Mestia airport will refund your airfare immediately. Remember to have your passport with you, though.

Mobile phone for Pegasus: 595 35 80 49.

CORRECTION: The number I provided above is the Pegasus office in Mestia. The number and other contact info provided by previous poster #8 is still valid.

An additional note: Know that there is massive construction going on in Mestia. So: Muddy streets, noise, lots of scaffolding.

My personal view is that an area like Racha doesn't get the hype Svaneti does, but is just as beautiful and is easier to get to. Consider also Shatili.

Hello everybody. Thank you all for your advice and updates.

I am travelling with a buddy to Georgia and Armenia on October, we intend to take the Tbilisi-Mestia flight on October 15th. (Monday). But I have a few questions:

  • Are those flights really so prone to cancellation? A delay wouldn't be a big deal, a cancellation would.
  • Should we book our tickets in advance or can we wait till we arrive to Tbilisi a few days before the intended flight date? Are flights normally fully booked well ahead?
  • In case we choose to travel by land, should we book the night train from Tbilisi to Zugdidi as early as possible? Is it often full?

Thank you all and best regards.
