Depends how tough you are.
I've swum in the black sea in April but there weren't many other people doing the same.
Main swimming season early May to late September.

I wouldn't swim in the Black sea before the end of May. At the end of may the water is about 17-19 degrees C, however the best is mid June - early September. In August September the water can be like a bath, about 27 degrees sometimes:)

Agree with above, June-September. You might be able to push that into May and October during a particularly warm spring/fall, but generally just June-September.

A lot also depends on which part of The Black Sea you're looking at.
Around Istanbul, Northern Turkey and Southern Bulgaria - it's quite a bit warmer than in Russia and Ukraine.

Hi from Yo-Ho-Hostel Varna,
We are agree with other people, but you have to know, that in Varna we have hot mineral water springs and very nice swemming pools and you can use them even also in winter time.
On St. Konstantine resort are the best pools with hot ( 25- 37 C) water. They are just 5 km from Varna center away.
You are welcome aboard !
Best regards,
Yo-Ho-Hostel
