Generally there is at least one all stations train per hour between Venezia and Verona, taking 2 hours (compared to about 1 hour 20 minutes on the fast service) and most leave on the hour from Santa Lucia and a few minutes later from Mestre. Buy your tickets any time before you go but, because they are not issued for a particular train you will need to validate them in the yellow box near the station platform which stamps the date on your ticket just before you get on the train or else you will get told off by the conductor who is entitled to fine you about 5 euros if your ticket isn't dated (if you play the daft foreigner they probably won't bother!)6
Yeah, no worries the regional trains aren't expensive and even the express is worth it for the time it saves. But do remember that the fine is actually €50.00 if your ticket doesn't have the 'convalida' stamp from the yellow validation machines in the station.Enjoy Verona, I though it was a fantastic city. Don't forget to climb up the stairs to the Castello di San Pietro. The castle is nothing special but the view is terrific.
