we plan to travel from Marrakech to Agadir in November (during the week). Which is the best (not cheapest) way? Well, we heard that taxis might be quite a ripoff, so I checked the train. I did not quite understand everything, as it was in french, but I had the feeling, that they make me take the bus there too? Does anyone know? Anyway, it takes 5 hours. Is the main station in Marrakech central?
How do I book the tickets? Or would you recommend the coach better?

1You have two great Cias CTM and Supratours (which is the extension of the Moroccan railway Cia ONCF to connect by road to destinations not served by train). Both are good and you can choose what interests you more times, prices are similar. From Marrakech to Agadir is about 250 km approx.
The Supratours bus station is next to the train station and CTM buses leave the central bus station,.
I leave the two links: www.supratours.ma

2Supratours schedule is at www.oncf.ma it is part of the train website.
Why go to touristy Agadir???

3There are many more busses than CTM and Supratours. These 2 are foreign owned companies that are owned by European outfits. If you go with a local company, your money will stay in Morocco and not straight in to the pockets of rich shareholders (and cost you less too).
Taxis are only a rip-off if you let them rip you off! A grand taxi charges by the seat for a particular route (6 seats – not including the driver), so they only go when all seats are full, unless you pay for extra seats. So never ask “How much to…..?”, always enquire “How much is a seat to…..?”. Then if you want the whole taxi, or even just an extra seat for some extra room, you can extrapolate the price from that. I’m not sure of the cost, or if there is a regular route, but I do know that the new motorway means it only take a couple of hours to escape Agadir……….I mean to get to Agadir from Marrakesh.

thank you very much for the fast replies.
The webpage www.supratours.ma does not work unfortunately.
So you are saying, there is actually no train running from Marrakech to Agadir? This is why they make me take the bus? Which of the two work together with the local train? And where do we get the tickets?
We will head to Taghazoute from their. We booked a room for 5 nights and the offer included transport from Agadir, this is why we need to head there. Does anybody know a nice place to stay elsewhere in Taghazoute (pool would be nice, because I don't surf)?

6Well....horses for courses I suppose. But most of the post warning about how bad the local busses are posted by you Morocfan. I haven’t come across anyone else who is as paranoid as you about a non-western run bus!
I'm really not one for travelling to a foreign country and only using western owned amenities….not much point leaving home if that’s the case, makes Kate a very boring girl. Anyway, if your happy with sticking to the tourist trail, then stick to CTM and the like, but if you want to see some of the rest of Morocco then there’s not much choice about going local.
Honestly, the locally owned bus services use the same roads and have the same crazy drivers that CTM and Supratours use. Last CTM bus I got (Tangier to Chaouen) had no air-con, averaged about 1000 miles an hour and had a glittery sticker on the dash that said “Kill them all and let God sort them out” on it!! No different from the local one that costs half as much.

8Sorry, I did not see that. I will check it out. Can I buy my tickets there also or do I need to go there, when I am in Marrakech?

11you have a choice coach firms from the local bus station CTM best , SUPRATOURS from the main train station, the main train station is within walking distance but use petite taxi METER ON their are NO trains to AGADIR ,WHITE TAXIS forget them, if you opt to use a bus station coach try and find one with no exhaust fumes ,rattles, good seats, heating and A/C that works and no draughts, atlas mountains cold in november, of course you won't know till you have paid up (make sure. you have a receipt on headed paper that states to Agadir and not Inezegane - you may need this later) and take to the road, these coaches will drop you off in Inezegane there they will put you a dolmus (shared white taxi) which is included in the fare to Agadir taxi station, do not ask to be dropped off somewhere else as this will cost you! You can get a petit taxi (little orange car) to your accommodation which (with the meter on of course!) will only cost a few dirhams including bags approx 20 dirhams. Supratours is based at the train station - their coaches are modern and comfortable and no hassle price earlier this yeafr was 90 dirhams per person single to Agadir (town) (this may be 10 dirhams more than the local coaches but these don't smell etc!), bags are usually charged at 10 dirhams - you will find that most people traveling on these coaches are locals with a few Westerners. When you arrive in Agadir, again get a petit taxi (meter on!) to your digs. The route from Marrakech to Agadir took 4-5 hours, but this January when we made this trip (see knowcats transfer airport to Marrakech) a new motorway was being constructed but now finished which has cut down the time considerably to only approx 2 hours! We have herd that it attracts a toll so the coaches may now charge a few dirhams more to cover this charge.

13yes after agadir then inezgane go into ONCF.MA and use the time table, date and time you want to travel from MARRAKESH to AGADIR / INEZGANE looking at the departure and arrival times this site is using the old road, or not using the motor way yet don't knowkats on this one "you will enjoy either route so don't worry.

14Just to make sure: if I take the bus from ONCF/supratours are they also going to drop us off in inezgane and make us take cabs or do they go straight to Agadir? Can I catch a petit taxi to Taghazoute from their and how much should it cost?
If I opt to take a taxi right from Marrakech to Taghazoute should this take less time due to the highway (like only 2 and something hours)? And should we take petit or grand taxis? THANK YOU!!!
