How do you get from Hanoi to Ha Long Bay?

OP, simple answer, it can't be done. By the time you get off the plane, get your luggage, and clear immigration/customs you're just out of time. Plan about 45 mins. into the city by taxi. Only option might be to book a private car and driver to meet you at the airport, then go direct to Ha Long Bay.
