Airhitch?Has anybody ever heard of or tried Airhitch before? I was thinking of going to Europe sometime this summer and someone told me that it's about the cheapest way to get there right now. And if Airhitch isn't cracked up to be what it supposedly is then can someone tell me who would have the cheapest tickets to Europe right now? Thank you.

1cheapest from... ummm... Taiwan?
I would recommend an excellent website called Google.
It will turn up excellent articles about Airhitch... like this one.

4A quick search of air hitch shows that this concept is dead... people have asked about courier jobs in the past and the common response is no-one knows a thing about it and it seems to be some travellers myth or something (as this air hitch is) from the 60s.
Your profile says you're from the UK - the cheapest way to get from the UK to "Europe" (ie the mainland) is either by train (advanced fare on Eurostar), ferry via National Express coach or by flying with one of the budget airlines, Bmi, RyanAir, EasyJet, Thomas Cook or other charter airlines - though do check full fare airlines as they can have deals on which end up cheaper than the budget guys.
If you're from America (ie USA) then the cheapest way is to buy a ticket for a flight, keeping an eye out for sales on the various carriers who trip across the pond. As I found out recently, some return fares can be cheaper than one-way... it's not cheaper to get a sea passage and there are no magical stowaway options.
You sound as if you may not have much money - you should be aware that if you are flying from the US, you may be denied entry if you do not have sufficient funds in your bank account, even if you have a credit card.

5how much money do you have to have in your bank account anyway before they will let you in? I was thinking of going to Germany.

12OP you can read here about the requirements (financial and otherwise) necessary to enter Germany on a short stay (schengen) visa.
You must be able to prove you have "sufficient funds" for your intended stay. So if you intend to stay for a week, your $1700USD will be sufficient funds. If you intend to backpack for three months in Europe then that wont be sufficient funds. If immigration suspect anything is up they will ask questions and investigate. "Proof" is a recent bank statement, so you should have one for your arrival in case you are asked for proof of funds.
You also require travel insurance for your trip which covers up to €30k for medical expenses.
If you are travelling on limited funds such as a mere $1700USD then you should make sure you can prove that you intend to leave at the end of your stay to help your case. You should have a return airfare and other proof such as a letter from your employer stating you have taken leave from dates x to y. Other proof like an official letter (ie on official letterhead) from your college may be suitable - but more than one form would be a good idea.
Immigration officials can and do ask for proof.... recently three Texan students were refused entry to Ireland because they could not prove they had sufficient funds for their travel.

14I sent Aribo a private message about asking for more info relating to his thread (no.3) but he never responded. Maybe someone else can help? I wanted to know if the airline that i would take from Fairbanks Alaska is Aeroflot. If it is then doesn't it have a poor safety record? And when i get to Murmansk and take a bus to Bydgoszcz (i assume that is a city in Poland) how long a trip is it? On the map it looks like about 3,000 miles, which would be about 3 or 4 days on the bus (Whew!).
