Bogota New Year's Eve

Hello,

What is Bogota like on New Year's Eve? Are there a lot of people out in the streets? (which areas are best?) or is it more common to go to a party in one place (in a hotel?) and stay there?

thanks,

This is the first new years eve I will have spent in Bogota, but I'm sure the Zona rosa will be good. I was there for Halloween and it was amazing. Many of the streets were closed to traffic and they were filled with hords of people having a good time. There were some motorbike groups that really got the crowd going.

I would go to the zona rosa over downtown for safety.

Actually, Bogota is pretty quiet during that time and until about Jan. 10. Combine that with the fact that New Year's Eve is a family holiday and I think you will find there is not much to do on that night.

have not spent New years in Colombia - however if it was anything like Peru it was rally quiet until 2 am as people were with their families. On the coast it will be huge I think, but maybe not in the inland cities.
