Quito to Lima RAPIDO! by bus, my suggestions

Hi there,

I recently needed help re going from Quito to Lima´= fast! And have just done it, so here is what I did....

Quito... Go to the internation Bus terminal, it is 30 to 40 minutes from town. 4 to 8 US dollars. 4pm bus. 15 dollars US.
Arrives MACARA at approx 7 or 8am in the morning.

Take a taxi to the border, 1 US dollar. 5 minutes.

Take a collectivo to Sullana. 12 soles. approx 80 minutes.

Bus to Piura 2 soles, 30 minutes. I stayed the night here for 15 soles as I wanted to break up trip, but you could stop anywhere OR take an overnight bus from here to Lima.

There are several bus companies from here to Lima, its pretty cheap to go if you dont want cama. Semi cama is 85 soles approx. Bus leaves at 6pm and arrives in Lima approx 15 to 16 hours later.

Hope this helps!

I needed to go fast to catch a plane, as my conecting flight from Quito didnt work out! This way is also just as cheap or cheaper as taking a direct bus from Quito, and has some great views along the way, such as thousands of small Baobab trees between Loja and Macara, if you sit on the right of the bus.

Have fun!

This is sooo useful. Thanks so much. One question though - is there a reason you didn't go via Loja (as in Quito to Loja, Loja to Piura)?
