Northern Croatia islandsHi!
I am planning to fly to Trieste with my boyfriend in July, then travel to Rijeka to get a ferry to one of the northern islands, perhaps Krk, Cres, Losinj or Rab. Does this sound like a good idea and can anybody recommend which one to go to and where abouts to stay for about 5 days? We need it to be fairly accessible but would like to try to escape from the really busy areas, ideally, a small picturesque seaside town or village.
Any help would be much appreciated!

1There are nice places on all the mentioned Islands. There are some smaller Islands too: Susak, Ilovik, Unije, etc.
Some of them can be reached from Rijeka by bus (using local ferries). If your destination is Mali Losinj, you may also travel via Pula.

If you are looking for accessible, then Island of Krk is the best bet. From Rijeka you can reach island of Krk using bridge - there are many buses from Rijeka to Krk throughout the day. You do not say what dates you intend to travel, but there is quite a lot of happening on Krk island - here is a link to some events: http://www.aurea-krk.com/krk-island-news.aspx
From Krk there are ferries to island of Cres, via which you can reach island of Losinj, or you can take a ferry from Krk to island of Rab. Rab has "Rabska fiera" which is held at the end of July, you can check http://www.tzg-rab.hr/eng/rab/kalendar.php for the list of events.
Ferries from Krk go from port Valbiska or from the Krk town of Baska which has one of most amasing beaches on the Adriatic.

3If you're not already there go to Losinj! I went with my gf last year. So chilled out. £ days in Mali losinj then 3 days in veli losinj which was tiny and really quiet. There are loads of really nice walks that you can do from there too if that's you're thing. Really accessible from Pula.... Have a good one!
