Best Beaches in El Salvador?
What would you say are your favorite beaches for surfing and/or relaxing in El Salvador? I'll be heading there in a few weeks and would really appreciate any information. Thank you1
Because El Salvador is so small, travelers are never far from the country’s Pacific beaches. And what beaches they are. The water is over eighty degrees on average, the wave breaks are perfect, and the sands are rarely crowded. surfers flock to El Salvador’s beaches all year long -— the favorites are La Libertad, Las Flores, and Playa Herradura. The beaches of Costa del Sol and San Juan del Gozo are better for non-surfers, boasting soft white sands and calmer waters2
I spent a week last summer at playa El Tunco And reall enjoyed the area was easy to get a bus up and down the coast there and lots of friendly folksI have also been further down(south?) to playa del cuco and didn't like it as much.
For just kickin back I like playa atami. but you pretty much can't go wrong at any beach in E.S.

There are great beaches for surfing.Punta Roca is one of the most popular ones with both locals and tourists, you really can't go wrong here. Also El Sunzal has nice beach breaks and nice strong waves.
You might also want to try Punta Mango on the "wild east", this one has super great barrels. No matter which one you go to, I know you'll have a good time ;-)

Where in El Salvador is good for snorkeling? i.e both a coral reef as well as calm waters? I've heard about Los Cobanos, but I didn't know if 1.) that was a good place or 2.) there were other places. Thx!6
Beaches in El Salvador are nice places to relax in relative solitude. Most of the beaches have kioskos that serve oyster, clams and beer. There are rocky and sandy beaches with countless palm trees and lots of places to eat.* Playa San Diego
* Playa Conchalio
* Playa El Majahual
* Playa El Palmarcito
* Playa Los Cobanos
* Playa de Metalio
* Barra de Santiago
* Playa San Marcelino
* Playa Los Blancos
* Playa El Espino
* Playa El Cuco
* Playa El Icacal
* Playa Las Tunas
* Playa Negra
* El Tamarindo
* Puerto El Triunfo
* Costa Del Sol
* La Libertad

#8 I don't know if El Salvador beaches are good for snorkeling, as they have strong waves (more for surfing?). You can research Los Cobanos beach, as it has a reef, so it hasn't a strong reef. The Caribbean is more suited for snorkeling, I think.
