Toronto to Quebec City by train

Hi Guys,

How long is the train to Quebec City from Toronto? How do I book a ticket on the net
for it in advance & where do I get the train from?

Cheers,

Justin

You have to change trains in Montreal. The whole trip takes about 10 hours. You can leave form Union Station in downtown Toronto or Guildwood in Scarborough.

You can book online at VIA Rail. If you book in advance you can get a good fare, about $115 or so.

yeah - hit up VIA. It's not a bad ride. But, really? Why the train? Coach canada will take similar time, and do it for ten bucks.

If you can possibly afford a 1st class ticket (SuperSaver seats available if booked long enough ahead of time) go for it - good meals and drinks included. Otherwise, grab a lunch before boarding as the food available in economy class is awful and expensive.

In case you do not know, there are 2 train stations in Québec City: the 1st one is, litterally, in the middle of nowhere (the Ste-Foy stop), while the 2nd one is much closer to the old part of the city (called either Québec proper or 'downtown' or Gare du Palais - see a pic here and another one here), in Lower Town.

Would not rely on train schedule as to travel time. For past 12years my grandaughters have yet to arrive at time stated. Bus better bet. Get ticket a week early and you could save quite a bit.
