August weather in Belize?
Hi,I am a teacher looking to travel for a month in the summer. I am really intested in going to Belize but wondered if it will just be a wash out and not worth the trip in July/August. I am really interested in diving, so if the rain is constant it just won't be any fun.
Can anyone help?
I am really up for going anywhere (except India, Kenya and Thailand as I have spent a few months in each already) and just need some advice for a top summer trip,
Any help would be amazing,
Nikki

My husband and I are both teachers and will be heading to Guatemala and Belize again this summer, our 8th summer visit to Central America. In Belize you're apt to have hard rain in the night and beautiful, though muggy days. Northern Honduras the rainy season more typically starts in the fall. In both countries it's technically hurricane season but the risk is low. Lots of photos and recommendations below - keep us posted!4
We were there in the last week of July, first week of August in 2007 ( I am a teacher as well). Rain did interfere with one day of our plans ( going to see the manatees from Caye Caulker), but otherwise we could do and see everything we wanted to on the other 10 days ( Tikal, ATM, Belize River, snorkeling, etc......). However full disclosure: There was a smaller hurricane a week or so after we left , though... I think actually it hit down in the lower Yucatan and may have actually missed Belize. It's a possiblity, but just not that likely.Since you are soliciting ideas: we also thought Ecuador rocked. And my husband just told me yesterday that he saw that flights to Peru ( from California, our home) are now $500 in August. Haven't been there, so I can't vouch for it, but I'm excited about the possibility.
