30Well if it is routes, I recommend hanging around the Cambodian border, as that is the only place in Vietnam so far where a man in a dress on the back of a bike has told me he loves me.

33Hey, just read through the posts and wondered what the latest requirements are for driving a motorbike. My boyfriend and I have read several conflicting posts on various websites about it and we're not sure what the deal is. We have a one month tourist visa and a UK driving licence for cars only and travel insurance which covers motorbikes.
We understand that it is necessary to get a vietnamese licence, many websites say that in order to obtain one you have to have a 3 month visa, is this true or can we get around this?
What exactly are the requirements etc?
Where would we get one? (we are arriving in Hanoi)

36Can you purchase bikes without a problem in Hanoi/Sapa as a tourist? We were hoping to ride from Sapa to Halong Bay and give our bikes to a less fortunate person when we were done, toss them the keys.
Thanks in advance!

38Thanks Road King! We plan on arriving in March, purchasing bikes in Hanoi, taking bikes on red eye train to Sapa then riding from Sapa to Ha long bay area(340 miles). Any insight or positive/negative insight on this adventure?

39Hey just been reading through these posts and still a little confused. I am getting to Vietnam in June 2014 for a month to 6 weeks and want to ride a motorbike. I have insurance and have full car license but only basic (CBT in england) motorbike license in UK what's the process of getting a license in Vietnam. Do I actually need to is it likely i will get pulled by police? or am I best to apply for 3 month visa and do it that way? (How much is 3 month visa?) Thanks!

You have motor insurance in the UK and possibly EU. That is irrelevant outside the EU.
Your CBT is valid only in the UK, you do not have a motorcycle licence.
You cannot ride legally in Vietnam without obtaining a licence.
