By bus, ferry, bus, train and bus: It's probably most fun to take the ferry across the Oslo fjord from Moss to Horten. First, take the airport bus from Rygge airport, operated by the company Minibus 24-7, see http://www.mb24.no/. The bus leaves from Rygge airport at 16:05, half an hour after the airplane has landed, with destination Moss-Kambo-Son-Ringvoll. It runs in correspondance to your flight, so you should reach it. The bus arrives at Moss Bastøfergen stop at 16:17. The ferry from Moss to Rygge leaves from Moss at :00 and :30, taking 30 minutes to cross over to Horten. It costs NOK 26 for an adult. You'll probably reach the 16:30 departure, arriving at Horten at 17:00. The website of Bastø-Fosen ferry company can be found here: http://www.basto-fosen.no/. It's an estimated walking time of 10 minutes from the ferry quay to the bus terminal of Horten. Take busline 70 towards Tunet from Horten bussterminal 17:35 to Skoppum railway station 17:53. There you'll change to regional train towards Skien from Skoppum 17:57 to Torp 18:28. Change there to airport bus (in correspondance with the train) from the railway station 18:30 to Torp airport 18:36.

By bus, and then by bus or train+bus: This variant has fewer changes, so it may be safer. Please note that there may be delays due to the rush hour in Oslo, but it will probably run smoothly. Take the bus "Rygge-ekspressen" from Rygge airport at 16:05, arriving at Oslo bus terminal at 17:10. You can try to head for the direct bus "Torp-ekspressen" from Oslo bus terminal at 17:20, arriving at Torp airport at 19:05, but if you're unable to catch it, head for Oslo central station, a quick walk from Oslo bus terminal. Take the regional train from Oslo central station 17:43 to Torp station 19:28, change there to the airport bus in correspondance with the train, leaving at 19:43, and arriving at Torp airport at 19:49.

hi, that sounds very good, but for me unfortunately it would be the vice versa option, going from torp to rygge and that on Monday, the 28th of june 2010, arriving at torp at 14,55 and having to leave by plane from rygge at 19,05....would that be possible, asks hp from berlin

This might be hard to manage actually...

With the standard airport-buses you won't be able to make it.
Torpekspressen, leaving Torp approx. 30 min after each flight arrival, it takes 1 hr, 50 minutes into Oslo bus terminal. So you will be there around 17:15..

Timetable only valid until June 11th, it says they will shortly publish expanded summer schedules. You can hope the new schedule includes a slightly earlier ferry that you are able to catch.. The first ferry you can catch from these, is at 17:15, arriving Engelsviken at 17:59.. From there they recommend their taxi-service to Rygge airport (140 NOK). According to google maps-calculation that will take at least 34 minutes..

Another option with another ferry. Reverse of first suggestion above.
First get from Torp to Horten. You might consider a taxi to save time..

ok, hm, that sounds more like staying overnight somewhere and take a flight the next day....but may be I/ll try the horton ferry....hp

Yes if you have not booked the flights yet, it is probably best to stay overnight, or find another flight that leaves from the same airport.

yes, I haven't booked the flight yet (but will have to soon), so I am still thinking of possibilites.
A problem is, that something in one link, that appears in the ferry possibility above, which I would like most, seems to have changed. At least: If I do click http://www.mb24.no/, there is a message about a change, that I can't read, because it is in norwegian, what would be the general information there, asks hp.

Yes, it's saying that the airport-bus from mb24 has been cancelled, and replaced by airport-buses operated by http://www.flybussekspressen.no/.
You can look at route F11 here. It has stops at "Moss ESSO Nesparken" and "Moss Høyden", but I don't know how far it is from these stops to the ferryport.

ok, to make the story short: today I met a Norwegian here and he told me the Fjord down there is not that special, and that it would be too much stress to try it, so finally I chose a totally different way, I am flying over Liverpool....But thanks for your help, may be next time I will have more time and spend some of it in Norway... All the best! hp

Thanks to hgaarder and yukinon for above posts.

They have helped me plan some of my journey from Oslo(Rygge) to Sandefjord.

I will arrive in Oslo(Rygge) at 11:20am on Tuesday 26th July 2011 and need to get to Sandefjord and back.

So far, I plan to get the shuttle bus to Rygge Rail Station.
From there I plan to get the train to Moss train station.
Then walk to Moss Ferry.

I will then arrive in Horten by 15:00 at the latest, depending on flight arrival time.

Looking at hgaarder's post above, I am thinking of getting bus 70 towards Tunet from Horten bus terminal to Skoppum railway station and getting a train to Sandefjord.

Is this my best option?
