In one month I will be in Skopje and I would like to have a day trip to Pristina. Since I will be travelling with my slovak girlfriend, I would like to know if citizens which nationalities belong to countries that didn't recognize the new republic could have problem entering Kosovo. We would enter overland from Skopje.

1Everyone is welcome in Kosovo - there are no restrictions (yet).

2Are you sure? I'm a Malaysian and Malaysia is the latest (52nd) country to recognize Kosovo as an independent state. In doing so, Serbia just recently expelled the Malaysian convoy from its land and last friday issues a 48 hours warning to the Malaysian embassy to get out.
My cousin works in the Malaysian embassy there, and the situation's a little tense. I actually planned a visit to both Serbia and Kosovo for February next year, at one hand I could enter Serbia (my cousin could apply the visa for me) and not Kosovo, but now it seems it's the other way round, I can visit Kosovo and not Serbia...
What a twist of events. And I've totally need to plan a plan B for my trip now...

3So there's no problem for you to enter Kosovo as their border rules are very different from those of Serbia. Kosovo has no restrictions at all, as far as I know. For Serbia you may need a visa however and that's a different matter.
Serbia does the little show of moaning and expelling diplomats every time another country recognises Kosovo but I don't think it influences the visa necessities for tourists (they would have killed off all tourism to Serbia by now if they had done so).
Plan B? Visit Kosovo, Albania, Monetnegro or Macedonia and skip Serbia - all are closeby and have interesting sights. February is a nasty month to visit though, snow, cold...

5hey everyone especially aleckii....i was in kosovo-sept 2008. this email may be too late for u guys. enter from anywhere but kosovo first. cos the serbian border control would take it u have entered illegally(since they do not recognise kosovo's independence). but if u must(enter from kosovo),make sure u have eg. macedonia, montenegro stamp in your passport upon your arrival in serbia. that way, they wouldn't say you have entered serbia 'illegally'. and summer(like everywhere in europe) is the best time cos electricity is 'rationed'(so to speak). a must visit_ulqin(montenegro) in summer..
