(We also used to drink Tang. Ugh.)
Nutrax; my Mom collected those Borden or Kraft flavored cheese spreads for the reuseable juice glasses. It was exciting, back then, to try a new and different flavor of processed cheese spread.
Finally, I wish we'd saved our Log Cabin™ "Maple" Syrup tins, in the form of (get THIS!) log cabins. They must be worth a small fortune today on e-Bay.

16I know we have moved on from shrimp cocktails to recycled beverage containers of our youth (and by the way, out here we used Hawaiian Sun Frozen Juice cans as drinking cups) but back to the shrimp cocktail..we usually have a couple of large martinis to go with the shrimp cocktails and then we can forget about the rest of the dinner entirely.

17The recycled bevarage containers reminded me of those Koolaid cups with big happy faces in the shape of fruit when I was 5.
Also the boxes of tea that came with the little animal figurines, anyone know what brand that was?
The pink mayo shrimp cocktail mess seems to be still popular on the African continent but why? I thought that went out with the 70's. Hah! Just thought it makes sense, we're at least 30 years behind the rest of the world anyway!
Nutrax, you probably didn't get many kids on Halloween cause word got around that you gave out raisins;)

18Nope--I learned my lesson. Hershey bars & Reeses Cups. Got a big bowl of them sitting around that I don';t know what to do with. I don't have a sweet tooth & Mr. N is supposed to avoid sugar. We are both retired, so we can't foist them off on an office.
One of the best shrimp things I ever had was in Guadalajara a long time ago, at a Yucatecan restaurant,. Tiny shrimp, the chiles were hottern' hell and it was sublime. I probably wouldn't like it now. I find as I've gotten older that I prefer flavor to heat in peppers.

19Myanmarbound, your 70's typical English restaurant recipe really brought some memories back to when I first went out with my then boyfriend and his parents (though that was early 80's) and I don't think I have eaten prawn cocktail since then, though I don't really have anything against it. Must try making that steak Diane some time though! Prawn cocktail really was the thing to eat back then to show you were a wee bit sophisticated :)
