only 5 days for Ireland

Hello,

I realize all of this has been asked already ;-) . I have only 2 1/2 days for the country side. I guess Galway and Dingle or Ring of Kerry would satisfy the top 2 must see??? first time in Ireland. I am in my 30's and I do travel a lot so I really do not want to end up in a tourists trap ( unless I have too...) also which is the cheapest car rental in Dublin? thanks a lot. m

When are you going to be here? Does you 2 1/2 days include driving to and from Dublin? If it does than I would probably go to Galway and stay there. You could drive around Connemara and go out to the Aran Islands. I think trying to hit two tourist attratctions so far apart is a receipe for stress in such a short time.

If you don't want to "end up in a tourists trap", you'd probably best avoid the full-on tourism of the Ring of Kerry.

Listen to first post.

Dublin to Galway 3 hours or so and hit the town for some trad music at one of the pubs. We drove up through the Connemara as suggested and had a grerat lunch along the way and then headed back into Galway for a night of pints and conversation. 2 1/2 days no way to see both and get a true taste.

As for as car hire. I was able to get a great deal in December with Enterprise at the Dublin Airport through the Aer Lingus website. Best of luck and in Gaklway have some lat night New York Pizza helped me after more than a few pints.

Cheers

If you want to do a quick trip if you are based in Dublin head down to Glendalough in Co. Wicklow only about an hours drive from Dublin (if traffic is good), it is a beautiful place great monastic settlements set in the most beautiful scenery.

Hi
My advice would be hire the car then head to killary harbour and then onto Galway or better go to the burren. I am Irish and from Cork but if you are going west not south then for such a short time that is what i would do. Shame if you do not have time to go to Newgrange and the Boyne valley, it is amazing. Hope you have a great trip. Slan

Definitely see the west and south of the country.

I would suggest driving from Galway down through Clare, Kerry and on to West Cork. Stop off at Bunratty Castle, Cliffs of Mohar, Kilarney, Dingle, Skibbereen and Clonakilty.

The scenery in this part of Ireland is beautiful and there is lots to do. There is a good website to find information on attractions, accommodation, etc in towns - www.mytown.ie

Thanks,
Garry
