Honolulu Airport - sleep and shower

Hi all,

I read on this forum that there is a "sleep and shower" place in the airport ("You pay for the room by the hour. Clean but a bit cramped and very convenient. I have used it a couple of times during stop overs. Bit more secure than outside though I have seen a few back packers snoozing on seats outside the airport")
A later post claimed that this had closed.

Does anyone know whether it has been reopened ?

Thanks

Just in case anyone else needs this information:

In reply to the question you e-mailed to us, the Airport Mini Hotel and Shower was closed after September 11, 2001 due to security concerns. However, there is a Hotel and a Bed and Shower facility near the Honolulu International Airport that would accommodate a stay during the day (for your convenience, listed below are the rates, e-mail addresses, websites and telephone numbers of these establishments):
1. Pacific Marina Inn - $63.00 (day rate between 6:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M.) e-mail: pmi1131@yahoo.com, website: http://www.castleresorts.com/Home/accommodations/pacific-marina-inn , telephone (808) 836-1131. They have a complimentary shuttle to and from the airport terminals.

There is also a Bed and Shower type facility near the airport that doesn't provide drop-off service to the airport terminals ( a taxi would cost approximately $6.00 each way from the airport). They offer beds in cubicles and guests share shower and rest-room facilities (however, these are cleaned after every use):

2. The Shower Tree - $45.00 per person (day rate between 6:00 A.M. and 6:00 P.M. depending on room availability), telephone: (808) 833-1411.

Please add a combined 11.92% excise and accommodation tax to the room rate of the hotels and the hostel.

I hope this information will be helpful to you and please let me know if you have any other questions on this matter or on travel to Hawaii.
