Another question...for thailand, laos, vietnam and cambodia do they all use the same wattage and powerpoints? I need to get a converter for my digital camera, ipod etc. and just wondering do i need a seperate converter for each country or is there a generic one for those countries?
cheers

Buy an adapter 3 pin Aussie -> 2 pin round plug (any travel accessory shop sells them). They cost $1AUD in Vietnam if you can wait until you arrive (or about $15 if buying from an Australian airport). No voltage/wattage issues as they effectively use the same as Australia. No need for a converter - just an adapter plug.Another option here is to buy a "powerboard" in Vietnam from a supermarket - this will give you 2,3 or 4 outlets which your Australian devices will plug straight (the powerboards accept multi-country electrical plugs).

great resource for such matters, with pix of plug types and voltage/freq info by country:Kropla Worldwide Electric Power Guide

I agree with the this option here, buy a "powerboard" in Vietnam from a supermarket - this will give you 2,3 or 4 outlets which your Australian devices will plug straight (the powerboards accept multi-country electrical plugs), but another option is that you can choose the multi-language PowerPoint to video converter to meet your need.
