Bus from Bangkok to Trat

Hi everyone,

I will be flying in to Bangkok the afternoon of Dec 30, and want to go directly to Trat.

I realize there are hourly buses, but is there a risk that they will be sold out since it is so busy during the holiday? Is there a way I can pre-purchase my tickets even though I will not be in Thailand until that day?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

-John

Since there are busses going every hour all day, I would not worry.
I have always gone from the Eastern Bus station at Ekami. Ekami on the map.
I am sure there is a closer bus station to the airport. I just don't know but I would expect the person at the airport meter taxi booth/queue will write it for the driver. Probably a shuttle bus if you want to go to the trouble to save a few baht. I wouldn't bother. The station must be within 100 or 200 baht away.
If you are not worried about the money, you could go to Bangkok Air and see when the next flight is.

are you sure there's buses 'hourly' to Trat from the airport? It's only a pretty small town. There's only as far as I knew about 5 or 6 a day from Ekkamai bus station itself, which is supposed to serve the entire metropolis.

You can get to Trat directly from the airport-catch a free shuttle bus to the bus station then wait for the bus to Trat.I can't remember the exact times, but they do go pretty frequently. Not sure what time the last bus to Trat is at,but I've a funny feeling it's around 13.30-14.30.I'm sure someone else on here will be able to help.....but it's pretty straightforward to sort out.Bus stop was right outside the 7/11 and it's around 300 baht per ticket.
Hope this helps,
Julie

It's a small world....but I wouldn't like to paint it!

I was at the Airport Transportation Center today and noted the schedule for the direct bus to Trat: 0630, 1000, 1130, 1300, 1600, 2300.

From Ekkamai there are 2 buses that go directly to the ferry terminal: 0745, 0945.

Ekkamai to Trat: 0600, 0700, 0930, 1100, 1230, 1400, 1530, 1730, 1930, 2030, 2200, 2330.

My advice would be to go directly to the bus station / airport bus terminal and buy a ticket for the first available bus. If it's really busy you might not be able to get on the next one, or even the one after that, but should be able to reserve a seat for later in the day with no worries.

Around Songkran I had a 6 hour wait for the first available bus in Chiang Rai, heading to Chiang Mai, but I got one in the end - and it was VERY busy that day!
