Sleepin around in Ko Phanagn

Hey guys and girls,

Im travelling to Phanagn for the feb 2008 full moon party. As im only going to be arriving two days before the party, i really want to tee up my accomadation beforehand. However there is just so many places on the net, some which look wuite reasonable but have terrible reviews, others that charge exorbitant prices, or that require i book at least 10 nights.

So my big question...,.... i would love some reccomendations for places to stay. Here are my pretty basic hopes and wants:

I'd ideally like to stay in Ban Kai, or in one of the other areas close to Had Rin
I'm keen to stay in a basic beach bungalow, dont care much for luxury suites. bed fan and toilet is all i desire.
Id like to spend no more than 300 baht a night.
Im planning to stay for 6 nights.

Thanks for all your help with other questions, hope to hear from some-one soon,

Cheers guys,

Lou x

Your query is understandably a very common one. At that price level, however, I really doubt you'll find anything advertised online and/or pre-bookable. Basic bungalow operators rely on walk-in business and can't justify the overhead of maintaining a website with booking facility. And especially around FMP times it is distinctly a sellers market so you just have to take what you can get. Plan to arrive a few days before the FMP and do a quick search and you should find something satisfactory. It is true that many places require minimum number of days booking - usually five, anywhere near Hat Rin. Consider to stay further away from the action to avoid the BS and then just grab a pickup taxi to the party.

Thanks for that. I arrive on the 19th of Feb and the party is on the 22nd. Do you think that will be enough time to find something if i wander about trying lots of places the first day?

yep, pretty likely you'll find something within an hour or so poking around.

When you get there take a taxi to SP Bungalows in Ban Tai, not far from the 7-11 on the beach side of the road. I think it is what you are looking for. If they are full there are a couple of other places around there.

Yes, I would head to 7-11 in Ban Tai and wander around. If you just look lost with a backpack at 7-11, someone is likely to approach you and offer you assistance.
