More flights on Ktm - Lhasa route.

Check this out? Air China's monopoly has finally been broken. I have no idea if pricing will really come down or not. We'll just have to wait and see. Also no word on when the route will open. But rumours say very soon.

cool! monopolies are never good for consumers. unfortunately, the link is not working. only the base site is up. btw, at this time of year do you suggest flying? it sounds like going overland lhasa to kathmandu would be an adventure. i have the time if there's things to see/experience.

This link worked for me. Let´s see if it plays out , as mentioned in the source article a lot Nepalese airlines has folded after a short time. Same thing with the Kathmandu-Lhasa bus , which still has a place on the same site : ran less than ten times , methinks.

high road to ..

Hugh: Overland is far more interesting than flying! It's incredible travelling accross the plateau then dropping through the Himalayas to the jungles of Nepal. Do It!!

Vistet: You can hardly compare the Lhasa - Ktm bus service with Yeti Airlines. (You are comparing a small bus company with a multi million dollar airline!) Yeti are by far the most successful airline in Nepal. They have been expanding all through the tourism downturn in Nepal over the last few years. I think it is very very unlikely that the CAA in Nepal and China would give the license to opertate this route if Yeti's business was looking questionable in any way.

mcjonesy, thanks for the feedback! that's what i figured. i am just planning my route to nepal but will definitely work on an overland route. once in kathmandu i have a sherpa who will take me on the anapurna circuit. i heard the EBC was underwhelming and i'm a road-less-traveled kind of guy. will be planning specifics over the next week so maybe will pop a question here on thorntree after doing more research. have a month to get to nepal and travel within so i'm pretty psyched! my dad was a peace corp volunteer there back in the '60's but i'm sure it's changed significantly since.

vistet, thx for the reply but the link didn't work again. maybe b/c i'm using a beijing computer?
