Diamox & US$ in Tibet

HI everyone....just heading off to Tibet in a couple of days from Beijing and wanted to know if Diamox or other Altitude sickness pills are easily available in Lhasa or should I get it here in Beijing somewhere???....Also is it easy to exchange RMB into USD at a reasonable rate in Lhasa as we hope to get our Nepali visa at the border, which I believe, we need 30 US$ per visa???...any information greatly appreciated...Thanks.

Diamox is generally not avilable in Lhasa. Other questionable herbal remedies are often available though.

Bank rate for RMB in Lhasa is 7.3 Black Market rate is around 7.1

Nepali visa is $US30 at the border....don't forget a passport photo.

at the banks you would need the paper you got when you changed them into RMB
and you can change max the amount which is mentioned on the slip
