Mongolia to Beijing

I'm planning on travelling from Mongolia to Beijing around the 14th Feb.

Where can I get a Train Ticket? I will be in mongolia for a few weeks. Would that be time enough to purchase it when I get to mongolia, as its winter I'm guessing that the train may not be as busy!

Are there any companies that could get a return ticket from Beijing for me, like cts?

Thanks for your help!! (Everyone seems to have quetsions about Beijing to UB, and none the other way round!!)

There are only one or two trains a week that cross the border. Tickets can be purchased at the train station or through guest houses or travel agencies.

Trains depart UB on #24 on Thursday and #4 on Sunday but the #4 starts in Moscow and I would not count on tickets being available to board this train on Sundays.

For return ticket, try contacting CITS, www.cits.net or Richard Tian of Ocean Travel, whose email is oceantravelcn@yahoo.com.cn or richards@public3.bta.net.cn or Bill Wang of EaseTravel at easetravel@hotmail.com or bill@easetravel.com. Reportedly these companies are quite reliable about obtaining the tickets at a fair price and delivering them during the day to your hostel or hotel in Beijing. Be sure to add them to your address book so that your spam filter does not "Eat" their responses.

Did you find out how much is it? or how to get it? I don't know when yet, but sometimes in mid to end of July, I have to be in HongKong. I want to take the train from UL to Beijing. Please let me know what info you have so far. Thank you.

It's around $100 US for a comfortable, 4 berth sleeper. It takes 30 hours from UB to Beijing. There are cheaper 6 or 8 ? berths avaialble, as well as more expensive 2 berths.

Eustacia - in mid July it will be VERY difficult to leave UB by train for Beijing. The Nadaam celebration is from 11-13 July and transportation immediately after that event will be completely booked well in advance. I would suggest contacting an agency in UB such as Legend Tour, or Richard Tian of Ocean Travel, whose email is oceantravelcn@yahoo.com.cn or richards@public3.bta.net.cn or Passport Travel or a guest house to arrange these tickets as soon as you have your plans made.
