i guess same thing in kunming.

Kunming has several outdoor shops that sell decent gear (the good stuff is about the same price as in the "West"). One I know of is on Renmin Zhong Lu, near the intersection with Huan Cheng Nan Lu, another is on the street parallel with Dong Feng Dong Lu, nut one block south, in the middle of town (just before the indoor food mall). Sorry for the vague directions! There are others scattered about, including a small one in the area with all the non-Chinese restaurants and bars near Wen Lin jie. Hope that is vaguely helpful
