Shpping in Krabi?

Hi,
I'm in Phi Phi for 24 hours before heading to Krabi for a couple of days and back to Bangkok for my fight home :-( Does anyone know if there is a good amount of shopping in Krabi to pick up gifts to take home - I've seen that there is a night market - is this the tourist type of market where I can get such things or should I pick up my bits from Phi Phi?
Thanks
Jo

The night market is mainly a food market not clothes and gifts like Chiang Mai. There are a number of gift type shops near the river and cross roads in Krabi, the main shopping street caters more for Thai people with electronic shops and their clothes etc. If you want gift type trinkets and DVD and CDs then Phi Phi is best (didnt see any English DVD or CD in Krabi). Phi Phi sells the same stuff as Khoa San RD

Why don't return to BKK one day earlier?
BKK is 'shopping central' and many of the few things/rubbish you will find in Krabi will have been probably shipped from BKK anyway!

Krabi will be cheaper than an island. But maybe you can pick up bits and pices as you see them if your time is limited, the cost will all balance out in the end and you won't have to be on a mission anywhere trudging around to much in the heat!
