1 week in December

We are planning to visit Bangkok, Chiang Mail and possibly an island like Ko Chang (would prefer an island that is not too touristy and overdeveloped yet scenic and laid back). Is this possible in 7 days? What are the transportation options to get around these places? We will be heading over to Vietnam after this. Thanks!

I guess it depends on what you would like to do. We were in Thailand for a month in January and although spent most of our time island hopping, one of the highlights of our trip was the 3 day trek/raft/elephant trip in Chaing Mai. I know you can do one day or even one night trips if you're short on time but it would be a different experience. The weekend night market in Chaing Mai is unbelievable and should not be missed. We really enjoyed Bangkok and actually spent 4 days there although you could probably see enough of it in 2 days. I would recommend seeing the golden budha and the river market, tiger temple tour was definitely a highlight of our trip. Never been to Ko Chang although we heard it was a good chilled out place to go and close to Bangkok.

To get back to your question, I guess it is possible to see all 3 places in a week but you will be rushed. You can fly to Chaing Mai from Bangkok and back. Im not sure about how to get to Ko Chang though. I think you have to take a bus then boat.

Good luck and pm me if you have any other questions.
