Bangkok food tour

Has anyone been on a good Bangkok food tour and could you recommend a tour company?

I found this private tour which is done by a lonely planet author. Not sure if anyone has been on it. Sorta expensive at $200 for six hours, but I don't mind spending if it is good.

Thanks!

200 for that you can buy food for a month. just go to one of the nightmarkets and eat your way through it. thats enough of a tour believe me.

Bangkok is eating and shopping.
The streets are lined with terrific choices.
Let your nose and eyes be your guide.

The widest choice of fresh seafood is the Seafood Market at Sukhumvit Soi 24 www.seafood.co.th - you chose the items, and teh style of cooking and in 7-15 min that is on your table. Fruits and wine are as well in wide selection.

Klong Toey is just a wholesale market, where you can, of course have meal, but among the rest of so caled 'sea food restaurants' in the city the mentioned by me Sea Food Market has indeed the widest choice of fresh seafood stuff!

I am fully aware of what Klong Toey is. I have been there many, many times. I didn't realize we were talking about seafood restaurants. I thought we were talking about where we would find the greatest variety of food in a limited amount of time.

... but as a tour to take a look and taste all ever caught seafood stuff, I agree, no doubts, Klong Toey is the best place.

Got it. For $200 I'd rather spend the money on the food itself. I'm sure I could do a self guided tour anyways and it would be more fun to search out the stuff myself.

Thanks for the seafood suggestions. We'll have to check them out.

Any other recommendations are also appreciated.

In respect of food, I like fried insects :))

At first glance, probably it sounds too much crazy... :)

They catch inscets without chemicals by attracting them by light, and them just cook in the oil liek french fries.

To get a first try, I had to have couples of beers before, but the stuff is really tasty: crispy and sweet, like potato chips. The best are those insects without too much guts, like meat sworms, various locusts and grasshoppers - if their legs are not overcooked to become too dry! Beetles usually have too tough exterior, so it feels like you are crushing nut.

Fried insects are sold on the streets, they are hot or probably even cooked there - termal processing decrease various risks - and, please, do consider this to be perevret, this is really sold everywhere, so it's worth to try!

I rememebr there was opened few years ago a kind of cahin bistro in Bnagkok that serves fried insects - never been tehre, and don't know whether it still operates.

Another food stuff I really like is clear crocodile meat soup and crocodile meat steak - for this you have to visit crocodile farm, beside zoo , shows and souvenirs they sell such freshly cooked things. Crocodile tastes verygentle meat, between chicken and young beef, so fresh produce at the farm is really good! Crocodile steak became one of my favourite meats at all!
