suk 11 bangkok

Hiya

theres been quite alot on here about the above hostel/guesthouse and wondering if it is a good place to stay for solo travellers as in a friendly place and good to meet other backpackers. Anybody know or stayed here?? Im thinking i may be better staying in khao san road for mixing with others? what do you think?

Thankyou for any help that will be great.

Suk 11 is in an awesome area. I drink around the corner all the time. You should be able to meet plenty of people. However, the quantity of backpacker types will be far greater in the Khao San area.

Suk 11's great. It's very easy to meet fellow backpackers there -- much easier than on Khao San Road, oddly enough.

Suk 11 is a great guest house in a non-backpacker area of the city. As far from most sightseeing as you can get, which is in the 'Old City', river, Banglamphu area (of which KSR is just one little street).

Suk11 reat place for those who have some reason to be in the Suk foreigner ghetto. For example: it is close to Bumrungrad hospitol, closer to the airport and Eastern Bus station at Ekami, my wifes' house, Samut Prakan...

If you have a specific reason to be on Suk, then Suk11 is THE backpacker place. Sort of an oasis in a sea of Bars/hotels catering to rich tourists and expats. It is mostly for upscale tourists, expats, sextourists, sexpats, those looking for British Pubs etc. If you go to Thailand to drink, eat and shop with a bunch of non-backpacker white people, this is your area.
This area offers very little of interest to me. I would not even bother to visit it if not necessary.

I like to go to the Restaurant at Suk11 when I am have to be the neighborhood.

umm ok bit more confused now! maybe better if said im early 30's female and not really into drinking/partying too much just hoping to meet fellow travellers that like experience the culture and have a good time but not partying crazy!! so suk 11 sounds a nice guesthouse but amongst people going there for sexculture!? mainly. Views were pretty different i guess from you guys. not into shopping either so maybe khao san better for me as long as not all heaps younger and partying allnight.

thanks for your advice and help anymore comments may help a bit more too.

I guess I could have said simply it is a very nice backpacker guest house but not a backpacker or sightseeing area of the city.

I would recommend the old city near if not right on KSR. That is where most of the sights are.

Suk 11 is definitely not for sexculture. It's still easy to reach other parts of Bangkok using the Skytrain which is about a 3 min walk away. Good mix of ages stay there too.
