Hey there... I've been to Thailand a few times as my mum live in Bangkok... I'd suggest you'd check out Krabi and Ao Nang beach... Ko Tao is a bit more laid back... if you do venture to Ko Samui steer clear of Caweng beach if you want to avoid the crowds but I stayed at a nice little resort on Bophut beach which would probably be right down your alley...5
The southern Gulf (Samui, Phangan, Tao) is usually drier that time of year. Jimbo's Samet has to run it close.
