Any good Thai Buffets around Sukhumvit area?

Off to BKK next week end and having tried MBK food stalls on the upper floors several times, I wanted to ask you BKK experts if you have any recommendations for good Thai food buffets around Sukhumvit where I am going to be staying at the Swiss Park Hotel. Or any other non buffet Thai restaurants in that area. I know most of the buffets are offered inside the bigger hotels.
Thanks.

Directly opposite the Beer Garden on Soi 7 is a large open air ( but has a roof ) eating area .Each few tables ( yellow chairs )are operated by a different kitchen .Food is very cheap and good .

Now in Thailand

Why a buffet? Thai cuisine relies on fresh ingredients right out of the wok or off the grill.

Buffets, by contrast, involve big vats of premade food that sits around for hours. The two just don't go together.

Buffets in large hotels usually have a few chefs in an open kitchen where you tell them what you want and they fry it up right in front of you.

On that note I ate the buffet at The Ambasador Hotel in BK and got food poisening.

So you might wanna stay away from that place..

But then, there are all the "*89 Baht Buffets*" popping up all over the lesser traveled areas of Bangkok!

LOL. In 1993 I stayed for the first time in the Ambasador hotel at about $25/day. In the old building, I dont think they had the high rise section at that time. Remember being bitten by mosquitoes in their grand lobby and the rooms smelled kinda damp. But, man did they have a great Thai buffet in one of their restaurants and it cost only about Bt 150. It also had traditionsl Thai music being played by a group on their traditional instruments.
Their free breakfast used to be next to a rain forest full of exotic birds, which was a very nice setting.
I did stay there again 4 years back and it was no where as nice as it used to be. I spoke to someone there asking the reason for its decline and was told that the owner is now concentrating on some business in the US and is no longer interested in taking care of business in BKK.

The buffet in the Sheraton Grande, which is opposite Sukhumvit Soi 19 is outstanding. It's price at 950 baht++ but it is excellent. The buffet at the Westin Grande over the road, is almost as good and similarly priced.

Borubon Street in Washington Square just off Sukhumvit Soi 22 has any excellent Mexican buffet at just 270 baht ++. It is on Tuesday nights only.

I anyone does try out an 89 baht buffet, be forewarned; they subsidize the operation with drinks.
Even water is premium priced.

Amarin restaurant

Skytrain Chit Lom Station has an entry directly into the building ( I think it's the Maneeya Center ) next to it at the crossroad end where the Erawan shrine is ( you can see the restaurant facing the skytrain ), enter and find the stairs, go down 1 flight, go left, right, left, enter enjoy.
