China Visa in Hong Kong...

Can I get a 60-day Chinese visa in Hong Kong. I have a USA passport. I NEED more than 30 days.

I have searched the TT, but the regulations seem to be changing monthly.

Anyone know who has recently been in Hong Kong...

Thanking you kindly from Xiamen, China.

talk to one of the HK companies that organise visas for china. I haven't got a link but a search should turn one up, and they'll know the latest regulations.

I don't recall anyone with a US passport getting more than 30 days entry recently BUT it is possible to renew 2 per entry and there are reports of people getting multiple entry visas for the same price as single entry visas.

There were reports of US passport holders getting 60 days single entry in Bangkok but these were prior to August when the rules were different. I haven't heard anything more current about Bangkok.

Since I have taken the time to answer your question, it would be nice if you took the time to respond as to whether the information was helpful.

As an American, you'll be paying US$100 each time you renew that 30-day stay.

This is awful . . .just awful....they want us in China to teach them American English . . ..but don't seem to like us given them our traveller money???? Hong Kong use to be a good bastallion for getting longer term tourist visas........but it looks like this has changed. Maybe S.Korea is still giving them out liberally (had a friend get a year long multiple entry visa a few months back).

Listen carefully to my speech, and let this be your consolation.

Just to be clear, it's $100 for you, as an American, to extend your stay in Mainland China at the PSB when your 30-days-per-visit are up on that multiple-entry visa.

If you don't want to extend by going to the PSB and paying $100, you can instead exit the Mainland to Hong Kong or Macau, then re-enter and start another 30-day visit.

Johnica - Actually it started 1 August 2007.

since August, there have been several reports of people getting a one year multiple entry visa with 60 day stays but I have NOT heard this happening in Hong Kong.

Yes, you pay about 760 yuan or about 100 USD per extension. You can cross to Hong Kong or to Mongolia. Both are visa free for US passport holders.

I just got my 1 - year multiple-entry, 60 days per entry, Chinese visa at the consulate here in L.A. for $100.

There are three kinds of people in the world: those who can count, and those who can't.

OP, just show them your itnerary, and you should get the extra days without trouble.

Use FBT as per reply #2.
