Chicago Bulls tickets

Hi everyone

I'll be in Chicago from 20 January to 24 January next year and I'm hoping to go see some american sports. Unfortunately, it seems there is only going to be 1 game on during the whole time I am there in "football", basketball and hockey - and that's the Bulls v Indiana on 23 Jan.

Basically, I'm worried about whether it will sell out or not, and whether I should buy tickets in advance or get them at the gate. I'll be travelling by myself, but I'm sure if I didn't already have a ticket I could convince someone else from the hostel who I meet along the way to come with. So should I take the risk, or just buy the ticket ASAP and go by myself....

Any advice would be appreciated

cheers

Dave

I really don't know if the Bulls are selling out now-a-days but I think it's always better to get tickets in advance. Avoids any lines on games day and one less thing to worry about plus I don't see much to gain by waiting.

You might want to check and see if the Chicago Wolves have a game. That's the top minor league hockey team in Chicago. Personally, I'd choose a minor league hockey game over NBA.

If the Bulls trade for Kobe Bryant, you'll want to see him play. Dude can play.

No need to purchase in advance.

Not actaly top-tier team, but the University of Chicago men´s basketball team plays Emory at home on the 20th. A lot cheaper than the Bulls and sometimes more inspired play. Loyola University may be a bit better. The men´s basketball team plays BYU (Brigham Young University, a bit sports school) at home on the 21st and Butler on the 24th. The women´s team plays Green Bay (the school, not the Packers, alas), on the 23rd. Too bad you are apparently leaving on the 24th, since the Blackhawks (pro hockey) are at home on the 24th.

University of chicago? a D -3 team? you'll see better hoops in a playground.

But seriously, the Bulls game will not be sold out - it's on a weeknight, against a team that isn't that much of a draw these days. I'd wait until right before the game and get a ticket - you'll save on the ticketmaster fees.

If you want a good seat, I would get it in advance. The only way you'll get a ticket below face value is if noone really wants to go to the game. And even then, I would still expect the good seats to be sold out.

#6 I disagree, especially if looking for a single. On a weeknight, the good seats won't be sold out. If it was a saturday night, and the opponent was better, I'd agree, but not here.

You couldn't have any less of a clue of what you are talking about.
Have you ever even been to a Bulls game, or been to one recently?
Do you really know anything about basketball and what teams draw and what teams don't.

Listen to joey.....I actually agree with him on this Bulls question. A single ticket will be extremely easy to get and most likely if you just walk up you will get a good ticket for less than face value. I would definitely not buy in advance.

I would rather watch a nice, high gloss, enamel paint dry than watch women's basketball.

To each their own. I personally prefer to be able to look at a seat map in front of me and be able to pick exactly where I want to sit when I'm planning an enjoyable outing to a game. Of course, some prefer trying to find someone selling tickets (illegally where you can get caught btw) in front of the stadium a few minutes before the event where the scalper is trying to convince you that the seat is great, when it can be crap in reality. If I'm going to go out of my way to go to a game, I want to make sure it's an enjoyable experience and not a potential headache. Plus, scalpers mostly only buy out tickets that they know they can resell for a profit. And those who decided not to go at the last minute rarely actually go to the venue to resell - they would be going to the game themselves.

If you're going to buy a ticket on the same day, try craigslist.org at least to avoid some of these issues.

#9 I'm not talking about scalpers - there will be plenty of good tickets from the box office on game day, and without the need to pay the ticketmaster service fees.

The OP is Australian and probably rarely (ever?) gets to Chicago or the States in general. Who cares whether it will or wont be easy to get a ticket or whether you might get the ticket a bit cheaper??? You really want to go to the game , cos u may not get another chance any time soon.

I was in the US in may-June for 3 weeks and wherever I went kept missing baseball and with no Gridiron nor basketball games at that time, but.....there was ONE game that co-incided with my being in a city at the same time. As it happened it was a Baseball game in which Barry Bonds played for the Giants in SF. Im glad that I pre-bought. It was great fun, even though I didnt really undersatnd the rules that well.

Go ahead, risk the few USD (getting to be cheaper in AUD every day !)

I NEED a holiday
