hi!

Does anyone know if it is possible to get a Chinese visa (use for going to Tibet from Nepal) in India or Nepal? If so, where from, how long does it take? How much hassle? any other useful info please!

THanks

Group visa when you enter from Nepal into Tibet Autonomous Region. Please do a search, this is a FAQ.
Cheers!

Maybe the Search box needs to be highlighted as no-one lately seems capable of using it.

Tibet IS part of China, you know.

ROFL #4 now you're getting even edgier than I.
#3: You do NOT need to have a Chinese visa prior to getting the group visa in Nepal. In fact any existing, unused ones will be cancelled when you apply for the group visa. If you plan to travel in China for a duration that exceeds the validity of your group visa, you'll have to find somewhere to change it to a normal Chinese visa. Please do a search for possible locations.
Cheers!

thanks ellyse for your kind and useful help.
Westwood...of course I know Tibet is (unfortunately) part of China and I have met many Tibetans in North India. If you want to be rude why reply at all? There are some people like me who are in China for the first time and don't know everything like you.

Thats why there's a search button as well as FAQ's.

Hello Alicet,

You will get Tibet visa which is for 20days maximum and still you can use your visa if you travel from Lhasa all the way down to China. Also another things are if you take a flight from Kathmandu to Lhasa then you won't get this much days valid visa, this is the chinese rules. So, better to go by Land and ofcourse you should apply your visa with group on an individual. I hope this can help you little to make decision. For more details send PM. wish you all the best for your travel to Nepal..

#6/#8: Yes that's true. But when we've been typing out the same answers over and over again, we do really appreciate people who just use the search function and FAQs instead of asking the same questions when it's already been answered enough times already. For you it's "just one more question", when you're like us you'll be saying "not another (same) question"! Please try to understand... it's much easier to just shoot off questions rather than answer them.
Cheers!

"One more question" is often "Same, same but different" as they say in Thailand.
I just typed in "China visa in Nepal" and found 415 hits. A good place to start.

They dont even have to use the FAQ, just reading the posts about Tibet the last 2 days should answer all general questions.
