Arab Alley money changer off Sukhumvitt

Just curious, Does anyone know of a late night money changer place on or near sukhumvitt other than the money changer place at arab alley? My friend and I walked up and down Sukhumvitt and found there are no money changers open late at night in the entire sukumvitt area other than the money changer place on arab alley. I wasn't about to change money at the Ambassador Hotel reception desk after they quoted us a very unfair exchange rate. Having been a frequent traveller to the LOS I was surprised to find that no money changers were open after 9pm. We ended up hitting the Thai Military Bank ATM outside the Landmark Hotel but just curious if anyone else has encountered this while having a fist full of dollars but unable to find exchanges in the later hours of the evening. In all fairness, the arab alley money changer place gives decent rates but I hated fighting my way through street beggars and the Katoeys soliciting arabs. They are persistent and run in packs! Felt like a scene from Dawn of the Dead! WTF!

How late do you expect Money Exchange booths to be open? They're open at the airport 24/7, and quite late along Sukhumvit and other tourist areas. I used the one in Soi 5 Sukhumvit recently, the Siam Commercial Bank one. Is this what you call Arab Alley? It's about 20 meters from the Skytrain station!

Here's a thought. Exchange your money earlier in the day.

well I think Bisbee has a point, perhaps ManvsWild, you could explain your situation a bit better, rather than resort to expletives.

rates were higher than I expected earlier at the airport, 68.7 for cash and 69.5 for TC's per UK pound and that was before you go through immigration - the rates are slightly better there and slightly better again on Sukhumvit of course. Bangkok compares very well to other major tourist cities for late moneychanging, there's a point, about 10 to 12 when even the most tenacious traders call it a day and pull down the shutters in say Bukit Bintang, KL or Victoria, London, too.
