Beach where weather is good now?

Hi All,

I am on my way to Thailand on Wednesday. I originally wanted to go to Ko Lipe but the weather in that area for the forthcoming future looks grimm. I have already enjoyed the british summer so would like some nice weather.

Can anyone out there recommend an island where the rainy season is gone( ie someone that is actually there or have recently heard from someone that is) and that is not too touristy either? I would rather avoid the likes of Phuket and Ko Phi Phi if possible as I understand these places tend to be crowded and more party orientated than anything else.

Thanks a lot for your help as always!

The wet season is ending in non southern Gulf areas, but I don't think it has ended anywhere just yet.
I'm a weather nerd and check the sites daily - the driest island lately (and reputably the driest in Thailand) has been Ko Samet. Also the winds there tend to be much lighter than the Andaman and the Gulf right now which is a plus unless you are a windsurfer.
Check windguru for forecasts (there is a sublink towards the bottom of the text in my weather thingy below). BTW, windguru tends to overstate cloud cover. My wet season trips see much of their "100% cloud" as often having a fair bit of sunshine.
On sites like weather.com and Thai Meteorogy Bureau you need to check Rayong (not Ranong!) which is a nearby big town.

Having said that, I would not avoid the Andaman (or the EASTERN Gulf - Ko Chang etc) if I had plenty of time to spare after Samet - as November progresses the weather gets drier. I've had great holidays in both areas in November.
But hell, even dead set wet season is usually okay for a good holiday - you get plenty of sun.

I have a fair bit of info in the second link below of less crowded Andaman islands.

I've been doing muay thai in Phuket for 2 weeks, and now I'm in Samui on my way to Koh Phangan, and it has not stopped raining in any of those places for the last 8 days...

The sun seems to have broken through this morning, but I don't think it's supposed to stay. I'd recommend staying away from this area for the next week or so..

Definitely avoid the Gulf side of southern Thailand at this time - bad flooding. The capitol has also had more than its share of wet stuff lately too, so perhaps Samet is not a plan either. The Andaman coast also shows high winds and rain, but seasonally this should be tapering off in the coming weeks. Read the Thailand Meterological Department forecast here. Looks pretty wet anywhere south. The weather's nice up here in Chiang Mai - not a drop of rain in weeks. Maybe head up here until things get settled down south.

Thanks a lot for this guys.

Anyone has any recommendations in terms of places up north? I am after a relaxing place preferably with interesting things to do but not a party party place.
Any help would be great. thanks in advance!

"Already enjoyed the British Summer!"

<blows coffee all over the screen>

Which of the three days of our British Summer was your favourite?

I especially like the "hail days" - quite unique.
