From BKK airport to Koh Chang - how?

Two of us arrive at 11:05 am to Suvarnahbumi on Wednesday. There no no convinient Bangkok Air flights to Trat. There are some rather expensive offers for car transfers of 4,800-5,300 baht. The bus to Trat leaves airport at 11:40 (we might miss it) or 13:10 (we might miss the ferry).

Are there other alternatives to get to Koh Chang? It is possible to negotiate a taxi or hire a car at the airport for less than 4,000?

The last ferry leaves for Koh Chang at 19:00. Is there anything to get to Koh Chang after 7 pm, like private boats for hire?

I doubt it ,as its at least a 5 hour drive to the ferry from the Airport .Have you considered getting the bus to Trat ,and staying there overnight and getting the ferry the following morning .Accommodation on Trat is cheap ,and its a nice little town to wander around ,with a few western bars and Guest houses .

Now in Thailand

Take the 13.10 bus - very good chance that you will be able tio get the last ferry. You'll know as soon as you arrive in Trat bus station, as if you can make it there will be songtaews waiting to take you and other passengers to the ferry pier - about 20 mins drive away. The last boats don't usually leave until much nearer 7.30pm, sometimes 8pm - even though 7pm is the advertised time.

I have found a site travelconnecxion.com that claims to offer Suvarnabhumi-Trat transfer by car for 3,900 THB. The precedure of payment by cc online should start with contating their consultant who would direct you to a secure online payment site. I have contacted them and got a reply that their consultant would contact me within 48 hours. This seems to me a bit strange, they seem to be in no harry to get a customer. A full day has passed - nothing from them.

Has anybody had any experience with them? it is CCT & T Co., - Charlie Connection Travel & Tour, 44 Samsen Rd., Pranakorn Bangkok 10200 Thailand.

The "official" taxi flat rate to Trat is 2800 baht according to a card hanging in a taxi that I photographed in March, which had all the flat rates to the various places all over the country. This is negotiable. Most drivers would ask for more; you could try to bargain for less. This would be for just a normal taxi-meter at the airport. No need to arrange ahead of time. At the airport you'll be mobbed by reps from all the limo services. See who'll give you a rate competitive with the taxis but a bigger or more comfortable car. It's 315 km - not "5 hours" I'm sure.
