Looking for your comments - 100% Backpackers only

I am curious how the recent changes to Thai immigration policy has impacted backpackers. when you are making land crossings, do not have a visa are you experiencing any difficulties/hassles coming in to Thailand?

entering thailand
coming in/out of thailand visiting neighboring countries
passport is clean of thai stamps
passport has thai stamps

you are bumming it in the islands and making visa runs

You can only stay 90 days within a 180 day period without a visa now.

also it appears it is no longer as easy to even get a visa (tourist visa that is)... penang, which has been the most accessible place to do a run for a tourist visa, will only give out 3 consecutive ones now (total of 9 months if you include extensions).

What qualifies one as 100% backpacker. I think I am only 75% because my luggage has wheels. It does convert into a backpack though.

A backpacker is a non grata persona! Bed bugs, flees, bed smell...and stuff like that.

I'd like to point out that is a Non Grata Person, not a 'Persona Non Grata' - even though I do backpack when I travel.

look this is total bullshit i made this question throughly concise - i am quite aware of all of the blather posted above about the current visa situation and more that some of you have only speculated on (hence the post). i am attempting to surmise the impact this is (not) having on backpackers vs. long-stay 'travelers'.

people that are honestly traveling thru the region - not expat visa runners, not faux-hippies - shoestring travelers, gap year refugees, etc...
