Standing room-only tickets: Chicago Bulls

You guys ever get standing-room-only tickets to a Bulls game?

Just curious b/c they're so cheap (20 bucks), but I'm guessing it's not even worth it.

For $10 more you can get a seat.

I don't care for standing room only tickets unless the game is such a big deal that getting regular tickets is very expensive and you just want to be a part of the atmosphere.

Otherwise, $20 will usually get you a seat from somebody trying to dump tickets. There are just so few Bulls games that sell out or have a demand that doesn't allow you to get cheap tickets.

The other school of thought is just buy a standing room only ticket and move to an empty seat. Yes you can do this, but generally if there are a bunch of empty seats, you could have bought a regular seat outside cheaply. Also, there is nothing that makes someone feel like a bigger jackass than when the people show up and have asked security to remove you from their seats.

Also, getting Bulls tickets is like getting White Sox tickets. Generally the rule is you should never have to pay for tickets. Companies always seem to be giving them away. You or a friend should be able to get free tickets to all but the biggest of games.

actually, the bulls sell out about half their games, so Banned is wrong.

for the less popular games, there are ways of getting discounts (check the ticketmaster site). Basically, if it says "WGN night" , enter the WGN code. they have the same deal with pepsi - for games against bad teams, you just enter a pepsi barcode number from a can or a bottle and you get discounted seats.

Or, you can wait until spring to see the first pro sports team go 100 years sans championship.

Thanks guys. I'm shooting for the Celtics in December, which is a Saturday night game. The C's will likely be pretty good this year so I assume it's a hot ticket. All that's available on ticketmaster.com is standing-room.

#3 Come on, that is absolutely not true. You are brighter than that or you're picking a fight. Listed attendance is miles away from actual attendance.

So when the White Sox said they had 38,000 people at their last few games this year you believe it?

The Cubs sold out basically every night and weekend game. I have season tickets and if it is lousy weather against a mediocre team, I can't give my extras away when I head into the game.

The Bulls are the same thing. They may list attendance as almost a sell out but there are so many empty seats and cheap tickets outside for most games.

In the Jordan days, yes, a sellout was a sellout and you were lucky to get standing room only. That's not the case now. The Bulls didn't even sell out a single game for the opening round of the playoffs last year.

Basketball is the most boring professional sport imaginable - nudged perhaps by tennis.

#6/7, thanks for that nugget of info, that was really helpful. You know what, you're right, I don't want to go the Bulls-Celtics game anymore. And I think I'll stop watching tennis, one of my other former favorite sports. Thanks for saving me the money and the time!

Banned -- have you ever gotten standing-room tix for the Bulls? Is the view horrendous? I'm into hoops and I'm a Celtics fan so I definitely want to be able to see the court. But I have to elbow my way to the front etc. then I'm not sure it's worth it.

#5 actually, it is true. empty seats downstairs are already sold; the cheap seats are the ones that are actually filled at Bulls games. and verey bulls weekend game is pretty much a sellout, as are the games against the marquee teams (lakers, mimai, cleveland, etc)

#8 any reason why you're asking banned about standing room tickets he doesn't know anything about?

#9/JoeyRamone, in post #2, banned said " I don't care for standing room only tickets unless the game is such a big deal that getting regular tickets is very expensive and you just want to be a part of the atmosphere." so I assumed he has had them before.

You are still missing my point. The tickets may have been sold, but it doesn't mean the seats are filled or the people that have the tickets aren't trying to get rid of them.

You are on crack cocaine if you think you can't get a below face value ticket at almost all but the biggest games.

My bar does 2 Bulls and 2 Blackhawks games a year. Blackhawks tickets are pathetically easy to get in any section you want. The Bulls give us discounts for EVERY game but a handful. Even on the weekends. We buy 50 per game and rarely use them all and have a few extra. Trying to sell them is sometimes not even worth the effort because there are guys like me out there for almost every game in a similar situation. In addition I split 2 club level season tickets with a friend. It is sometimes difficult even getting face for some of the better seats at the UC.

This is an undisputable fact from my experience. If Joey somehow knows more, he must be a ticket broker.

Bulls seats are easily to get, its not at all a sell out.

A for boring, Nascar is boring, F1 is racing.

I guess I'll just go to the UC that night and see what kind of deal I can get right there from sellers.

no banned, i actually worked for the nba. Your bar gets a discount? lordy be, it's the first time banned has ever heard of a "group sales department"? Even the yankees, who sell 4.2 million tickets a year, have a group sales department and offer discounts for large groups. It's good business, actually.

as for selling the tickets, perhaps you should a) try ebay or b) you're not very good at selling outside.
