Double entry permit ?

Yet another question about permits... (I promise, I searched the forum but haven't found any answer).

If I understood well, the permit for Tibet is valid as long as the Chinese visa is valid, right ? Now if I have a 3 month 2entry visa and I get a permit to Tibet, can I legally enter and exit Tibet several times with the same permit ?

Here is a potential itinerary :
Month 1 : Enter China from Kirghizistan. Kashgar-Lhasa via Ali. Get the permit in Ali. See Mount Kailash on the way.
Month 2 : travel from Lhasa to Zhongdian. Visit friends in Southern Yunnan. Go to Vietnam for a couple of weeks (friends in Hekou).
Month 3 : Back into China. Find a cheap flight Chengdu-Lhasa (using my 1st Tibet permit ???). Friendship Highway into Nepal.

Do you reckon this would be okay ?

I don't know about the dates of a Tibet Travel Bureau (TTB) permit.

The Alien Travel Permits, for travel to otherwise closed areas in Tibet and elsewhere in China, only last for 10 days, unless a longer period is specifically requested due to a longer, specified itinerary and granted.

Our TTP might as well be written in double Dutch for all it can be understood. Sims gave us a copy when we used it back in April. Might see if i can get a local Chinese to interpret it.

We never really grow up, we only learn how to act in public.

we got the alien traveler's permit in ali and they gave us 20 days without our asking for it. and supposedly they aren't too picky about the dates.

The permit has a date on it, so it doesn't necessarily related to the expiry date of your Chinese visa. They are two separate documents.

The permit is only necessary if you are travelling into or around Tibet, you won't be checked if you are going OUT of Tibet from Lhasa.

So, you will have to arrange a new permit for the "Month 3" trip.
