I would suggest using one of the many smaller visa agents, not the CTS. The CTS has only been giving 1 month visas, but the agents can do 1,3,6 or 12 month ones and ones with multiple entries if required. 3 days ago I got a 3 month, single entry visa for $HK220. It was organised by Michael at the internet cafe + visa place on the 16th floor of Chunking Mansions (next to Travellers Hostel). I got the visa in less than 24hrs. I have previously used them to get 3 and 6 month multiple visas with no hassles. The travel agent on the same floor of Chunking Mansions also organises the same visas. These places can get visas for most nationalities, but UK, US and many African passport holders will have to pay a bit extra. Hope this info helps.6
I recently (four weeks ago) got my visa in HK in a US passport. I had to wait in line for some time, I think about 3hrs. I then was asked to return in a few day, I think it was four to pick it up.7
Re #5, It is completely untrue to say CTS can only arrange one month visas. They arrange all categories of visa including multiple entry, group visas and visa extensions. They have over 40 branches in HK and along with the PRC Consulate in Wan Chai are probably the most experienced, reliable and reputable source for obtaining China Visas in HK.9
you go to FBT on Science Museum road. If early enough they can do it same day."A person without a sense of humor is like a wagon without springs. It's jolted by every pebble on the road" - Henry Ward Beecher
